NASPPA Staats Emerging Scholars Award

Tipeng Chen, a Ph.D. candidate in the Center for Science, Technology and Environmental Policy Studies (CSTEPS) and School of Public Affairs, has been honored with the 2026 Staats Emerging Scholars Award from the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA). This prestigious honor recognizes his rigorous, cutting-edge public administration research and his strong potential for future contributions to the field. His dissertation examines how the administration of public participation shapes public employee motivation and behaviors in U.S. local governments.

Tipeng's recent work has been published in the field's top-tier journals, Public Administration Review, and Review of Public Personnel Administration. He has also published in interdisciplinary outlets with strong policy relevance to environment, science, and technology topics.
