Workshop on genetic resources exchange

On April, 25th – 26th C-STEPS hosted researchers from the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and CIRAD to discuss the impact of regulation on genetic resources exchange. The workshop is part of a USAID-funded study that aims to understand how scientists within and outside the US face regulations and permits on genetic material. The study focuses on the Feed The Future Innovation Labs, a presidential initiative to promote collaboration among US scientists and scientists in developing countries to advance food and agriculture research.

The research team at CSTEPS is now conducting extensive interviews with scientists and will be leading an international survey to understand collaboration and exchange patterns within the Innovation Labs. The full report of the study will be available late fall 2016.
